A gentle evening stroll from Crackpot Cottage will also take you to the outstanding Crackpot Falls or Summer Lodge cave and tarn.

Green Living
At Crackpot Cottage we spend much of our time finding ways to be as self sufficient as possible, whilst keeping mother nature happy.
And so we build and dig and plant and harvest, and return what we don't need for ourselves back to the land (or give it to the hens!).
We have plenty to keep us busy, rain or shine (mostly rain!), whatever the season such as:
vegetable garden
fruit trees
hens
lots of flower beds and lawns
plenty of hedges and natural fencing
composting
and the list goes on.......
Here we share with you our triumphs and failures, and all the hard work and attention our land needs.
Reviews
This lovely byre is the perspective location for a wholesome walking weekend, surrounded by beautiful Yorkshire countryside as far as the eye can see and adventure waiting round every corner. The hosts really did have the absolute most - everything we needed from maps to homemade pizza and ketchup. Thank you Karen and Emanuela for a truly lovely time. Joe and Phoebe x
My boyfriend and I stayed here on 10 July for a treat night away for his birthday. We were excited (and nervous) to see how we city birds would cope in the deep countryside with no electricity and nothing around us. However, it was one of the best nights away that we have ever had! From the moment we started driving through the countryside with the amazing views, we knew we were in for a treat! It was exactly what we needed to have a well-deserved break in our busy lives. The hosts are super welcoming and friendly and the cabin is very secluded at the bottom of their garden so it is super private! We opted to order some Italian food, homemade by Ema and my goodness ... IT IS A MUST TO TRY! It was super tasty and the free glasses of wine complimented the food so well. The firepit was a super lovely touch to have a few drinks around and the board games were an extra lovely touch. The cabin its self was very clean and cosy and the homemade bread, homegrown eggs and tea/coffee were a lovely touch. We can't wait to come back in the near future :)
Amazing place. So beautiful, peaceful and remote. The hosts were absolutely lovely. They explained where everything was, how it worked and made sure I had all I needed. Very accommodating and welcoming 😊 Would definitely return and stay longer next time!
Emma and Karen were incredibly welcoming and the location of Crackpot Cottage is to die for. Their home cooked pizzas are excellent and I can’t recommend the home grown onion chutney and ketchup enough. All in all a great place to stay for a week in the Dales.
