Green Living
At Crackpot Cottage we spend much of our time finding ways to be as self sufficient as possible, whilst keeping mother nature happy.
And so we build and dig and plant and harvest, and return what we don't need for ourselves back to the land (or give it to the hens!).
We have plenty to keep us busy, rain or shine (mostly rain!), whatever the season such as:
vegetable garden
fruit trees
hens
lots of flower beds and lawns
plenty of hedges and natural fencing
composting
and the list goes on.......
Here we share with you our triumphs and failures, and all the hard work and attention our land needs.
Reviews
this is the type of Airbnb experience you see in the movies; the welcoming hosts, the unique experience and the evocative surroundings- steeped with a sense of history and community.
Beautiful off the grid cabin to spend a relaxing romantic night away! The hospitality we received from Emanuala and Karen was second to none and nothing was to much to ask. Hopefully we will get the chance to stay again soon to try more homemade specialities and enjoy the peacefulness again.
It was my first glamping experience. From the photos, it looked fantastic so I decided to give it a try. When I got there, the experience was waaaaaaay better than I expected. Emanuela and Karen were such great hosts making sure I had everything and gave me all the helpful trips about the great walks in the surrounding areas. They made me feel very welcome, not to mention the authentic home made pizza, breakfast and packed lunch by Emanuela, yet they left me alone to enjoy my own quiet time with nature. I had my own space looking at the mountain across the field in a swing bed. I only had the companies of the chickens and the owls. The cabin was really nice and well equipped. I didn't need to light the fire as it was warm enough in the summer. Thank you so much for such a great experience and you bet I'll go back again.
An absolutely gorgeous location with amazing views , the place it’s self was more than anything we expected and we were over the moon, we have had the best stay :)
