Crackpot Cottage (previously Crackpot Farm) was built in 1722 by the Garth family who were the successive owners through three generations, although the hamlet of Crackpot has existed on maps since 1610 or possibly earlier. The Garths had farmed the land around Crackpot for at least 400 years, and were responsible for building Isles Bridge, many of the stone walls and a school in Crackpot.
What better place could there be to experience a piece of Swaledale history than Crackpot Cottage!
